Diverse collections can be a significant challenge for automation within your biobank. Often samples are coming from different studies and trials and may not have standardized consumables. To further complicate automation, handwritten labels are routinely applied to vials. Using physical assessment, a sample management system, and utilization patterns, we found automation can be employed effectively to reduce labor efforts and improve efficiency in biobanks.
