Heat sealing is the preferred method for microplate sealing, offering complete security by preventing sample loss, evaporation, leakage, and contamination. Heat sealing is suitable for high temperature applications such as (q)PCR, low temperature storage, transportation and many other applications. The sealing performance of heat seals is superior to all other methods including cap, mat and adhesive sealing.

Heat sealing is also significantly faster than using caps or adhesive seals, with typical sealing times of 2 to 3 seconds. By standardizing sealing parameters such as time, temperature, and pressure, consistent and reproducible seal quality can be achieved, eliminating variability seen with other sealing methods.
